What Can I Do About This Darkness In My Mind?

Jesus said a lot about the darkness.  He said that we should come out of the darkness.  Does the Scripture describe what the darkness is?  Is it possible to be living in darkness, and not know that you are there?   Can some of the problems, fears, anxieties and stresses that we face in this life be the result of living in darkness and not realizing our predicament?   In the natural when we are in darkness, we turn on the light so that we can see better.  Is there a way to 'turn on the light' when it comes to our life path?  The Bible says those who are in darkness stumble, because they cannot see where they are going.  Sometimes that is exactly what it feels like, like we are just stumbling through this life with NO CLUE to our direction.

Light is a Spiritual quest.  It is illuminating.  Every religion claims to seek it.  The Bible speaks a lot about it.  Jesus is the only one that claimed to be " the light"  Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the light no one comes to the father except by me."

What does the Bible say about light?  The book of John says Jesus shone his light into the darkness, but the darkness did not perceive it.   Jesus said that he came so that no one would have to remain in darkness.  Col. 1 says that Jesus has rescued us from the domain of darkness.  John also said that men loved darkness instead of the light!  1 John says if you hate your brother you are blind and in the darkness.  Ephesians says to have nothing to do with the unfruitful deeds of darkness.  2 Corinthians says that light has no fellowship with the darkness.  1 John says God is light and in him is no darkness at all.  Romans 13 list some of the deeds of darkness (1) carousing (2)  drunkenness (3) sexual promiscuity (4) sensuality (5) strife (6) jealousy   Ephesians 5 says live as children of the light.

1 John says that if we claim to have fellowship with Jesus but walk in the darkness lie.  Ephesians 5 says our minds will be full of darkness if we close our minds and harden our hearts to God.  Romans says If we know God but do not praise him or thank him for being God that our thoughts become pointless, our minds misguided and plunged into darkness.

The light is truth, the light is the way to God.  Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the light!  Mohammed didn't claim to be the light, he was seeking the way, seeking the truth, he was seeking the light.  Buddha didn't claim to be the light,  he was seeking the way, seeking the truth, he was seeking after the light.  Jesus said, "I am the light!"   Until you find the light, you are walking around in darkness.

Matthew 4 -- "THE PEOPLE WHO WERE SITTING IN DARKNESS SAW A GREAT LIGHT, AND THOSE WHO WERE SITTING IN THE LAND AND SHADOW OF DEATH, UPON THEM A LIGHT DAWNED." From that time Jesus began to preach and say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

Jesus said  Luke 4 18 "THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR. HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED, 19 TO PROCLAIM THE FAVORABLE YEAR OF THE LORD."…

If you are lost in the darkness and your mind is being destroyed, bring it to the light of Jesus.  Keep your mind upon Him.  Confess Him as the only LIGHT from God and He will shine light into your darkness.
