When Things Aren't Working Out, You Can Try to Fix it Yourself, or You Can Do This...

Gen 16:1-2

Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. And she had an Egyptian maidservant whose name was Hagar.  So Sarai said to Abram, “See now, the Lord has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her.” And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai.

Prov 16:25 comes instantly to mind in this situation, it says, There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.

Sarai makes the statement, the Lord has restrained me from bearing children, so instead of trusting God she decides that she is smarter than God and takes matters into her own hands.

If you are a born again believer there are two ways you can make decisions, by the spirit or by the flesh. If you have not put your faith in Jesus there is only one path available to you, and that's the flesh.

Paul teaches in Galatians,   Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

We often deceive ourselves into thinking that we can do whatever feels right at the time and all will work out.

There is one way of doing a thing and that's God's way all other ways lead to destruction and death. Any time we follow our flesh we will always cause heartache and disaster.

The greatest revelation a person can get is that God is smarter than us. God's ways may not always be the easiest or the quickest, but they always lead to a good place.

Put your trust in God, call on Jesus and let His spirit lead you in the right path, the path to life.
