God placed Adam and Eve in the garden and the devil came to them disguised as a snake. Evil can take many forms but there is one universal truth about the devil that happens NO MATTER what form He takes. No matter what the form the devil is ALWAYS a LIAR!
Genesis 3:3 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”
2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’”4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.
The Bible says he is a liar and the FATHER of all lies. You are a person of free will, but the devil wants to control your will. How does he do this? By feeding you lies. Once you believe a lie than your life is controlled by lies. Lies always lead to DEATH. If you make a habit of lying to the people around you, this is releasing DEATH to everyone you love. LIES KILL. But the TRUTH heals. Lies taste good, makes people feel good (until they find out the truth) and pacifies sin. The truth hurts, doesn't feel good but it CLEANSES us from sin that destroys our lives.
It is possible to believe a lie and destroy yourself living OUT that lie. We all know of someone that is following a lie and they are living it up, thinking they are doing their own thing, and all the while they are killing themselves in the process. What will overcome the enemies lies? ONLY THE TRUTH. What is truth? God's Word is truth! Only when you believe in, cling to, act out, trust in and live the Bible will you be protected from the lies of the devil. God's word will protect your mind from deception.
If you love the truth this will protect you from the lies of the enemy. I cannot express to you dangerous the lies of the enemy are to you. If you are deceived by the devil it will bring DEATH to your life.
2 Thessalonians 2:10 And with all deception of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
If we do not love the truth we will perish with the lie of the devil. How does the devil lie? He will convince you to rebel against your parents. He will convince you to do stupid things that harm your body in the name of 'fun.' He will tell you to cheat. He will tell you to be mean, to be selfish, to be false towards others. All the things that we do that go against the truth do not bring real lasting pleasure or peace to our lives. These things only bring deception and death.
Pray today and ask God to help you receive the truth. Truth is being spoken everyday, but people reject it, they push it away, they rebel against it. IN fact the truth will make people angry, they refuse to hear it. The Scripture says they perish because they received not the love of the truth. Pray with me: God the Father, Help me to know and love the truth. Help me to understand the Bible and to live by it, to embrace it and not to run from it's wisdom. In Jesus name. amen.
