God's covenant equals God's favor

God made a covenant of circumcision with Abraham.  God said that Abraham would be the Father of many nations.  When God makes a promise he seals it with a covenant.

Genesis 17: 1And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be you perfect.
2And I will make my covenant between me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.
3And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
4As for me, behold, my covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations.
5Neither shall your name any more be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made you.''

God was good to honor his covenant with Abraham, and Abraham was good to keep the covenant with God!   Through Jesus was have been brought into a new covenant with God.  In Luke 22, at the Lord's supper Jesus said
Luke 2219And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me." 20And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.
The new covenant each of us have with God is the covenant made by the blood of Jesus.  In Exodus 24, Moses then took the blood, sprinkled it on the people and said, "This is the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words."  So we see that the covenant that God made with the people was a blood covenant, as circumcision covenant that God made with Abraham also requires the shedding of blood.  God makes a blood covenant with man, and the new covenant is made through the blood of Jesus Christ that was shed for us.

Hebrews says that Jesus is the mediator the of a new covenant
Hebrews 8:6But now has he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
7For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
God has always made covenant with mankind.  First through Abraham, then through Moses, and now because of the blood of Jesus we are all made near to God in covenant with Him.  Yet it is the same God, the God of Abraham and to Christ Jesus his descendant  as the scripture declares
Galatians 6:26For you are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
29And if you are Christ's, then are you Abraham's descendants, and heirs according to the promise.
